This morning we are with Avon Energy Assessors Ltd at Welford on Avon in Warwickshire, we are here because the customer has reported that their laptop computer has slowed down and is not loading certain pages on Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook was not sending or receiving emails.
First we edited the registry and removed and unneeded programs from the machine amongst these are toolbar’s and recognised malware such as Babylon, Funweb, Yontoo etc. We then ran a Malwarebytes scan to check the machine and it found and removed further potentially unwanted programs (PUPS) .
We also downloaded and installed PDF creator to allow the customer to create PDF files from any program that can print.
Good morning, We are with a customer on the High Street at Marton in Warwickshire, we have been called out to look at a Packard Bell iMedia 2326 computer that is misbehaving, the Customer has reported that this Microsoft Windows 7 installed computer is working fine in safe mode, but fails in normal mode by giving a security centre error on start up, Control Alt Delete is having no effect and the machine is locking up with out warning.
Update: This after checking the registry and start up files, we looked for malware and checked the Heat sink and Fan on the Processor we found nothing untoward on the computer, we checked the Event Log and found the error “Parity error on Device Raid Port 0”, this is a problem with the hard drive we have attempted to do a recovery on the drive and it reached 13 % before the computer locked up, this lock up is being caused by a failing hard drive.
The customer has decided to get a new computer, as this one is about 4 years old now and we will recover the data at that point.
Good morning we are with a customer at Stratford upon Avon in Warwickshire, We are here to solve an issue with the customers computer, The computer has power lights and fans but no screen output, On this one we repaired the computer by removing the video card, processor and memory cleaning the connectors and reassembling, This gave us a working computer, then we edited the registry and removed unneeded programs this helped keep the computer running well.
We are with a customer on the Stockton Road at Long Itchington near Southam in Warwickshire, We are here because the customer has attempted to run the recovery disk on a HP Pavilion DV9700 laptop computer, Unfortunately the disk supplied does not contain the correct drivers for the laptop. We get around this by temporarily plugging in a wireless USB adaptor and connecting to the customers internet to download the correct drivers from the HP website. It needed drivers for the audio, Chipset, Modem, Touchpad, TV Tuner, Onboard video card, Onboard wired network card and the Wireless LAN to complete this repair.
We are at a customers on Tiddington Road in Stratford upon Avon to repair a Compaq computer which is Dead (it has no Power) it requires an ATX power supply unit which we replaced after confirming the fault.
Good afternoon, We are now with a customer on Windy Arbour in Kenilworth, We are here to solve an issue a Files Permissions error with Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, The issue here turns out to be a piece of malware called IAV this needs to be removed from the Registry and then any associated files removed from the machine this one had an EXE, LSP, Toolbar, And a browser hijack, We removed all these and retested the PC all clear.
Good afternoon we are with a customer on Church Hill in Royal Leamington Spa, We are here to remove a Virus that uses random letters plus ftav.exe, The symptoms are a green shield in the resident program icons, We removed this problem by editing the registry, Deleting the Virus Files from the Application Data and Temp Files, And then checked clear by running a Malwarebytes Scan, The Norton antivirus here was very out of date and needed the use of the Norton removal tool to uninstall from the computer, We replaced this with the free AVG antivirus and Zonealarm firewall.
Good afternoon we are now with a customer on Heyville Croft in Kenilworth, We are here to remove a fake antivirus from a Sony Vaio laptop computer, The fake is called Internet Secuirity 2010 its aim is to relief you off some money for a product that does not exist.
Update This version seemed to be helped by a Trojan downloader virus and had attached its self to the system files in effect we were forced to lose the system restore folder or get the virus back.
