Good afternoon, we are now with a customer on Astley Close in Royal Leamington Spa Warwickshire.
We are here to give the customers Acer and Sony Vaio laptop Computer some general computer maintenance as well as some Dropbox support for a HTC Android phone.
The first computer we look at is the Sony Vaio laptop, The issue with this machine is fairly simple, it seems that Microsoft Internet Explorer upgraded to version 10 the day before and that caused Windows Live Mail to work off line, Unfortunately the option for this did not exist in the Windows Live Mail program, and the customer had been using Mozilla Firefox . all we had to do here was load Internet Explorer open the file menu and turn the work off line option off then back on again, this resulted in the customers email functioning normally again.
The next computer was a Toshiba Satellite laptop computer this one was running slow upon further investigation it was found that the Norton 360 antivirus and security had failed in some way. We removed Norton and reinstalled and then the computer was running at full speed again, also on this machine the customer wanted to transfer photos from a HTC Android smart phone the standard route is via a supplied USB cable but is cumbersome mistakes can be made and connectors damaged, leads lost etc, So for this one we installed Dropbox on the computer and the Andriod smart phone and enabled it to transfer pictures when ever it is logged in to a wireless network to keep the data usage costs down.
Good morning we are with a customer at Barford in Warwickshire who has a new Samsung notebook computer and is missing the contact details for Microsoft Windows Live Mail email program, it seems the wrong address book had been imported in to the email program so we removed the contacts and re imported from the customers old computer system.
Good morning we are with a customer on Bridge Street at Wellesbourne in Warwickshire, we are here to help the customer install his Apple Macbook Pro laptop computer, this involved setting up a HP Officejet 7310 all in one printer as a network printer to allow network sharing between the computers.
and transferring data including My Documents and Pictures from the customers old Windows XP Desktop PC.
Next today we are with a customer on Castle Close at Warwick in Warwickshire, we are here because the customer has reported problems connecting to the internet at their premises, after some investigation it is found that the Linksys ADSL modem router has lost some of its set up information, we reset the correct ADSL log in setup information and reinstall the wireless security and tested with their computers.
Good morning we are with a customer on Windy Arbour at Kenilworth in Warwickshire, we are here because the customer has reported that their computer is running very slowly, its found that the phone line has a noise quality issue which will effect the internet connection quality and will cause our intermittent internet problem, we investigate further and find that we also have a second issue slowing down the computer, that is the computer has 2 antivirus programs installed and they are conflicting with each other, after removing one and editing the registry, and checking all up to date this computer was working at a good speed again.
This morning we are with Avon Energy Assessors Ltd at Welford on Avon in Warwickshire, we are here because the customer has reported that their laptop computer has slowed down and is not loading certain pages on Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook was not sending or receiving emails.
First we edited the registry and removed and unneeded programs from the machine amongst these are toolbar’s and recognised malware such as Babylon, Funweb, Yontoo etc. We then ran a Malwarebytes scan to check the machine and it found and removed further potentially unwanted programs (PUPS) .
We also downloaded and installed PDF creator to allow the customer to create PDF files from any program that can print.
Good morning we are with a customer on Lindsey Crescent at Kenilworth in Warwickshire, we are here because the customer has reported an issue with running Microsoft Office 2010 on their Acer Aspire Series 3 Laptop Computer.
When tested we find that there is a registry issue preventing the user profile from loading and the computer was locking up with in minutes of powering up followed by a blue screen of death stating that a memory error had occurred.
We first attempted to run the factory restore which maintains the users data this resulted in an error “WIM apply image fail error 0x45D (1117), upon reboot this resulted in a boot loader missing message.
At this point we stripped the computer and removed and backed up the customers documents, pictures and any thing else in the user folder to another computer.
We then restarted the computer holding the alt key and tapping the F10 key this loaded the factory reset menu which as we now had a backup of the customers data allowed us to run the factory restore to defaults.
Reinstall the customers programs and data, and install the customers HP Officejet Pro Wireless multi function Printer.
Good morning we are with Milverton Consultants on Milverton Terrace at Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, we are here to help the customer resubscribe to Symantec for Norton 360, whilst here we upgraded the Norton 360 from version 5 to version 6, and removed unneeded tool bars from Internet Explorer.
Good morning we are with a customer on Beverley Road at Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, we are here because the customer has reported problems printing with their Epson printer.
Update: This one turned out to be a cartridge had emptied during cartridge replacement it seems to be a common problem with refilled cartridges of a this type if not left to rest over night before installing.
Good morning we are with a customer on Guys Cliffe Road at Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, we are here to help the customer solve an issue with their internet which started after upgrading the antivirus to AVG 2012 Internet Security.
Update: Before we arrived the customer had ran system restore and this had got the internet security in to a bit of a mess, the add remove programs and the AVG removal tool would not work , so we removed all the temp files and application data, ran the Windows Install Cleaner and was then able to attempt a reinstall of the program, once installed the firewall failed and got stuck in a reboot loop, this seemed to be going no where fast so we removed the program and reinstalled the AVG Free which worked first time.
We also realigned the Brother DCP585CW whilst here as the print out appeared to have a blurred shadow in normal printing mode, with adjustment this appeared to be better, with Fine mode looking perfect.
We are now with Flooring inspirations on Wharf Street at Warwick in Warwickshire, we are here to replace a faulty router with a new Netgear DSN1000 Router, after which we do but get random Connection issues on the customers Dell Computer, to solve this problem we fixed the wireless channel , cleared the TCP IP , winsocks, cache and the DNS and this fixed the issue.
We are now back in Warwick with a customer we are here to set up a Dell desktop computer that has been in storage , The wireless had an issue so we reset the drivers, TCP/IP and the Winsocks, updated the antivirus and had a fully working system
Good afternoon we are with a customer on Bankfield Drive at Milverton in Royal Leamington Spa, we are here to check an issue with downloading attachments from BT Yahoo webmail, the machine has been checked for viruses, malware and tested with google mail, so it appears to be a BT Yahoo issue , we are obtaining more help via BT Customer help online, they put us on to a support rep via the telephone and in the end reset the DNS at there end and got us to cycle the power on the router .
Good morning we are with Complete Environmental Services at the Plantagenet Trading Estate on the Warwick Road in Kineton between Warwick and Banbury in Warwickshire, we are here to reset all the customers email systems on all their computers and devices, remove some spyware, malware and a virus from one of there computer systems.
Update: We installed the email on their computer systems, Apple iPhones and Apple iPad, the Toshiba laptop computer needed TCP/IP and winsocks resetting, and a desktop computer needed 2 antivirus programs removing, this was causing the computer to run slower.
Good afternoon we are now back at Marton in Warwickshire, we are here to set up the customers new Lenovo computer system recover the data from the failing Packard Bell PC, recovered the emails and address book, installed the router and setup the HP PSC 2115 multi function Printer.
Good morning, We are with a customer on the High Street at Marton in Warwickshire, we have been called out to look at a Packard Bell iMedia 2326 computer that is misbehaving, the Customer has reported that this Microsoft Windows 7 installed computer is working fine in safe mode, but fails in normal mode by giving a security centre error on start up, Control Alt Delete is having no effect and the machine is locking up with out warning.
Update: This after checking the registry and start up files, we looked for malware and checked the Heat sink and Fan on the Processor we found nothing untoward on the computer, we checked the Event Log and found the error “Parity error on Device Raid Port 0”, this is a problem with the hard drive we have attempted to do a recovery on the drive and it reached 13 % before the computer locked up, this lock up is being caused by a failing hard drive.
The customer has decided to get a new computer, as this one is about 4 years old now and we will recover the data at that point.
We are with a customer along the Priory Road at Kenilworth in Warwickshire, we are here to setup an Apple iPad with a Windows Computer , updated the firmware, set up internet bookmarks and AOL email as well as performing other computer maintenance.
Good morning we are with a customer on Bridge End at Warwick in Warwickshire, we are here to repair the connection between the customers Brother multi function printer to scan correctly with the customers Toshiba laptop computer.
We are now with a customer on Shottery Road at Stratford upon Avon in Warwickshire. we are here because after a Trojan virus got on to the customers Dell Inspiron laptop computer, they performed a system restore to return the system to normal but in doing so their documents music and pictures have disappeared , so we are here to attempt a recovery of the missing data.
Update all the documents recovered , updated the Antivirus to AVG 2012 and ran a malware scan which found a number of issues including a Trojan downloader virus.
Next today we are with a customer in Farnell Drive at Stratford on Avon in Warwickshire, we are here because the customer has reported an Problem with not being able to download his Email on his main computer.
Update: on this one we removed unwanted toolbars, removed a W32.Malware-Gen Malware, ran a malware scan and ran an Antivirus Scan, reset TCP/IP and Winsocks
We are now with a customer on Greatheed Road at Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, we are here because the customer has reported that their HP printer is not printing , so we need to check what the issue is and if able to get working the customer has never been able to get it Installed as a wireless printer.
Update: Whilst here we tested the HP Deskjet F4580 Printer and found that its wireless is faulty, the BT Infinity is working perfectly, the wireless on the Dell 1545 Laptop was functioning but not at full speed only downloading at 20 megabits per second, whilst cabled and on my wireless test phone it produced above 35 megabits on download. we also updated the customers antivirus to AVG 2012 which found an uninstalled virus in the downloads folder called Trojan Horse Cryptic.BSC, luckily it seems it was downloaded but not running. (several faults occurring here )
Good morning we are with a customer on the Stratford Road at Warwick in Warwickshire, we are here because the customer is reporting poor wireless signal to their BT Infinity wireless router with their Compaq Laptop Computer.
Update: There was a connection issue with the infinity router and so we rang BT technical support who got the broadband up and running quiet quickly, the weak signal was because the laptop had reattached its self to a neighbours BT Openzone network, After getting the computer working properly on the customers router we found the internet was still slow to respond so we deleted the internet cache and this fixed the issue.
For our last job today we are with a customer at Palmer road at Whitnash in Warwickshire, the customer has reported issues with their computer and we here to help. They have an email that wont delete and the www.telegraph.co.uk was not opening on Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.
Next today we are back with the customer at Barford in Warwickshire to complete their domain name and configure their email plus setup email on a desktop computer, a laptop, an Apple Macbook Air and an email client on an Apple iPhone.
This morning we are with a customer at Kenilworth in Warwickshire to install a backup system for an external USB hard drive for this we are using the download for Synctoy from Microsoft , the reason for using this is that it is pretty easy to use and does not take to long because it only copies the files that have been changed.
Good morning today we are with a customer on the Radford Road at Leamington spa in Warwickshire, we are here to investigate a computer that has power but no screen display output.
Update: upon Investigation it was found that a surge had tripped the power supplies thermal switch, all we needed to do here was removal the power and in the time taken to confirm the power lead worked the thermal switch had reset. this was then tested all working for now, quite lucky as it goes.
Next today we are at Langcliffe Avenue on the Woodloes in Warwick, we are here because the customers internet has stopped working, after testing we find its an issue with the length of the telephone extension line to the ADSL modem that’s installed here, however in the past 6 years since it was installed their requirements have changed, so we have altered the wiring to make it work, upgraded to a wireless ADSL modem router and set up the computers here to work via wireless .
Next today we are with a customer on Birches Lane at Kenilworth in Warwickshire. we are here to check an Apple iPhone and an Apple iPad that has stopped sending and receiving emails plus other computer problems.
Update Vodafone have discontinued their 360 service this means any phones using email on Vodafone will need to use an alternative outgoing Email Server.
Good afternoon we are now with a customer on Russell Terrace at Leamington Spa in Warwickshire to setup an Apple iPhone Sync, check if a web booking system works correctly on the same phone, and some other computer maintenance.
Next today we are with Lighthorne Lamb at Lighthorne in Warwickshire, the customer is having problems with the internet at this location, this is traced to a Faulty BT Router which is reset for now but is quite old and will need replacing in the near future.
