Good afternoon we are with a customer on the Chase Meadows in Warwick, The customer has reported several problems on their notebook computer running Microsoft Windows XP, the first problem was that the computer had lost all of the customers data, it seems the customer had purchased the computer from a previous employer and the computer had been set up to synchronise when returned to the office, some how the computer had been reset to be used as a stand alone machine and this had hidden the protected data, this required us to run system restore and return to a previous state which also solve a lesser issue with synchronising an Apple iPhone this had stopped working after a Microsoft Windows update for Apple had installed.
Now we have a fully working computer we are able to reproduce the customers original fault which was that they were unable to save any thing in to the documents folder, the documents folder is in fact an offline folder to solve this we just upped the limit on the offline folder size.
Whilst here we also checked that the backup system was backing up the Offline folder with all the customers data.
This morning we are with a customer at Kenilworth in Warwickshire to install a backup system for an external USB hard drive for this we are using the download for Synctoy from Microsoft , the reason for using this is that it is pretty easy to use and does not take to long because it only copies the files that have been changed.
This morning we are in North Leamington to put in place a backup system for a basic external USB harddrive for this we are using the free download from microsoft called synctoy, The reason im using this here is that it is pretty easy to use and does not take to long because it only copies updated files.
This morning we are with a customer on Needlers End Lane in Ballsall Common to install a backup system for an external USB harddrive for this we are using a Sync Program from microsoft , The reason for using this is that it is pretty easy to use and Quick because it only copies the files that have been changed.
Update to get the WD USB external hard drive to work here we had to also install a USB 2.0 PCI Card, It seems the ones supplied on board could not supply enough power for the drive.

This morning we are with Wootton and Co in Leek Wootton near Warwick, We are here to set up an external usb harddrive backup system for the customers photos. The software we have setup uses a sync system, the main reason for using this is it only copies the updates files which means a complete usable backup in case of Emergency. This unit also includes a memory card reader to go straight from the Camera’s card and a screen to view the images.
We are with a customer on Birches Lane in Kenilworth,We are here to setup a backup system for an external USB hard drive that the customer has purchased, for this we are using the download from microsoft , The reason for using this is that it is pretty easy to use and does not take more than a few minutes to update because it only copies the files that have been changed since the last backup.
Good morning today we are with a customer at Bascote between Ufton Southam and Long Itchington in Warwickshire, We are here because the customers computer is running slow and has a never ending stream of pop ups appearing on the screen these are usually titled Adserving or Aedgency.com, To remove this we had to edit the startup files in the registry, Removed temporary files, Ran a Trojan virus remover, and once cleaned we setup a backup system.
For the last job today we are at a customers on Chesford Crescent at Warwick, We are here to repair the customers Laptop computer which is giving a hall.dll Error, To check this computer we booted to system recovery Console and attempted to read the hard drive this resulted in the error “unable to enumerate directory”, This meant the hardrive was unreadable so we had no choice but to attempt a recovery on the computer, this was successful and after being able to reboot in to windows we setup the customer with a backup system and left the machine backing up. The reasoning for this is that the data involved was critical to the customer and having had one issue it seemed quite likely another may occur.
Update as it happens 2 days later the repaired machine died and the backup of the laptop computer saved the customer from having to repay for data recovery, the only thing to note here is if your using a hard drive to backup to then you need to remember it is also a mechanical device and it is worth retiring the back up drives every 2 years to avoid failure.
