Installing an access point system in Wellesbourne

This Morning we are on Mountfield Crescent in Wellesbourne installing a Wireless Bridge system of Access Points, The main objective of this is to share the Buildings Internet connection in an office with a room at the opposite end of the House , We managed to accomplish this using only 2 access points one which has to be wired to the main router and the other in a strategic location on route to the room requiring access, When we tested this setup we found we had also gained internet access in the summer house at the end of the garden.

Computer Setup in Barford

We are with a customer in Barford this morning to set up a new computer system, as well as installing the software we have also connected it to a Network Printer and transferred data to it from an old computer and recovered his Emails and contact list.

Data Recovery in Kenilworth

We have been called out to do an Emergency computer data recovery in Kenilworth.

The Laptop computer had been dropped one concrete floor smashing the screen to pieces and the customer had after speaking to me had decided to rushed out to buy a new Sony Vaio Laptop Computer, We came and managed to extract the customers data from the old computer and transfer to the new computer. We also Installed the customers programs for him.

So he was up and running again within 5 hours of breaking his old computer.

Computer Installation and Data Transfer Kenilworth

Good Morning We are at a customers in Kenilworth, We are here to setup a new computer system which includes Installing software, Setting up a HP C4380 Wireless Printer and an Epson LQ300 dot matrix printer, Transferring all the customers data from their old computer which consists of Sage Accounts and Payroll Data, Documents, Photos, Emails, Email Address Books and of course making sure it all works.

Internet Trouble at Hatton

Good Morning Today we are on the Hockley Road in Hatton to fix Internet problems.The actual error we got here was “Turnpike Winsock Error Time Out” so we reset the winsock and the tcpip Settings which fixed this fine.

Unmountable Boot Volume in Kenilworth

We are in Kenilworth on Grange Avenue repairing a Computer that has the error “Unmountable Boot Volume”, We performed a recovery on the hard drive here and recommend that the customer should backup any important data in case the problem reoccurs.

Email Problems in Coventry

We are in Coventry with Matrix Lasers this morning, The issue today is that random emails are not being received after checking all machines that have been authorised to collect the email for the company we decide that it seems possible an ex employee may have been receiving email at home so the safest thing to do at this stage is change the password and retest.

Computer not Booting in Radford Semele

This morning we are at a customers in Radford Semele to repair a computer the fault with the computer is that it keeps loosing its time, Date and hard drive Settings, This is most likley to be a CMOS Battery issue so we opened up the case and found it needed a CR2032 battery which we changed and fixed the problem.

Computer not booting up at Wellesbourne

Good afternoon for our Last job today we are with a customers in Wellesbourne, We are here because the customer computer is not booting up and giving a “non-system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready” error to repair this we loaded the recovery console from CD and tried to read the drive this failed so we ran the recovery program this claimed to have fixed many faults and the drive was read able again. We rebooted the machine and all was fixed the customer has been told to back up any important or irreplaceable data like pictures in case the machine fails again.

Good afternoon we are with a customers in Kenilworth to look at a Dell 5150 that has been  reformatted, To repair this computer i required to bring our Laptop Computer so i could download network drivers and transfer to the Dell, so then we can reinstall all the drivers required from the internet.

Apple Mac Problems in Coventry

Good Morning today we are starting with a customer at Westwood Heath in Coventry. We are here to resolve some minor issues with an Apple Mac Computer the first issue requires us to all ways allow Key chain Access the second is that the computer is always loosing connection to the internet, This is resolved by fixing the router to one channel .

This afternoon we are in Coventry at Matrix Lasers, We are here to upgrade some of the computers with gigabit cards to increase the data capability of the network.We are also here to Set up a computer on the existing network.Here we are transferring the Documents, Installing a PCI Gigabit Network card , Transfering Emails and address book, Generally attempting to make the new machine visually the same as the one its replacing.

This afternoon we are with a customer in Whitnash Removing a root kit virus from his desktop PC. A rootkit Virus is a virus that attaches it’s self to a main system file and can be pretty hard to find.

Computer repair at Wellesbourne in Warwickshire

For the next job today we are at Alfresco Design Associates Limited at Wellesbourne in Warwickshire, We are here because the customers machine has been intermittently rebooting, This appeared to be a thermal issue on the processor as it was reaching 67 degrees C, The computer was fixed by removing dust and carpet hair from the top of the processors heat sink and fan when retested the processor was only reaching 36 degrees C.

As a general rule Intel processors halve the speed of the processor as soon as the temperature goes above 50 degrees Celsius to compensate and try to reduce the heat so if your reading above 50 degrees Celsius check your Processor Fan and make sure its working and not clogged up.

Computer Repair at Woodloes Park in Warwick

Good morning we are at a customers on the Woodloes in Warwick, the issue here is that the computer freezes intermittently and the webcam does not work correctly, it also gives a  “1628 Failed to complete Installation” error, to fix this one we required to edited the registry and install windows updates.

CMOS battery Change in Coventry

This morning we are in Coventry repairing a computer for a customer. The fault described is that the machine is not booting and the date is reading as 2003. We suspect it just needs a replacement battery so will be taking a selection of standard batteries.

Kodak dental system and other computer maintenance at Wolston between Brandon, Bretford Binley woods and Stretton on Dunsmore in Warwickshire near Coventry

Good Morning today we are working for Dental Chrome Systems at their Wolston Address between Brandon, Bretford, Binley woods and Stretton on Dunsmore in Warwickshire near Coventry, We are here to setup an old DOS based Kodak dental chromes system. to keep this old program working on a Windows XP machine we have had to re-partition the drive to include a 16 bit boot-able partition running DOS 6.22 and setting up a dual boot system so the customer could choose to use Microsoft Windows or DOS. (Unfortunately the Kodak dental system requires the use of a parallel port and the Microsoft Dos operating system so will be a bit tricky to upgrade the in future, we are currently hoping to maintain the computer system until the customer retires)

Good morning today we are with a customer on Beauchamp Road in Warwick, We are here to sort out issues with a printer, This turns out oddly to be a corrupt profile and to solve it we had to create a new user profile and copy the data and emails back in,Strangley this was also stopping the customer from adding her New USB printer.

Computer Rebooting in Warwick

Good afternoon we are in Warwick to repair a computer that is rebooting constantly, for this one we have booted up a CD in recovery console and attempted to read the drive this resulted in the error “An error occurred during directory enumeration” and meant the drive was currently unreadable, So we ran the recovery tool from the CD, this found and fixed errors on the hardrive this allowed us to load the computer and the customers data was recovered, The recommendation at this point is to make sure any important or irreplaceable data such as letters,accounts or pictures are all backed up to another media such as CD, Memory Stick or another hardrive as the possibility of the error reoccuring in a more problematic state could occur.

Computer Repair on the Percy in Warwick

Good Afternoon we are now at a customers on the Percy in Warwick, We are here because the customer’s desktop computer is running slow, To solve this we have to edit the registry and remove any unneed programs and tool bars, check the antivirus and run a spybot scan.

Update this one had a piece of Malware that calls it’s self Registry Optimizer in the add remove programs list it was only part of the issue but pretty much any thing that claims to optimize or speed up your computer is to be distrusted unless proven otherwise.
